Athon FB 520 Antifoam is a silicone based antifoaming emulsion containing silica and additives. It can be used in a wide range of applications, being resistant to alkalis and acids and is recommended for processes under extreme pH conditions.

CHARACTERISTICS

Athon FB 520 Antifoam is a homogeneous, low viscosity emulsion. It is effective even at very low levels, being chemically inert to the foaming medium. Excellent foam breaking as well as good residual action.

APPLICATIONS

The versatility and ease of handling of Athon FB 520 Antifoam allow its use in the most varied applications. It is an excellent breaking agent of foam generated in formulations containing surfactants which are used in the most diverse areas such as agrochemicals, household cleaning products, Autocare, petrochemical industry, or where high performance in extremes of temperature, pH or resistance to saline or surfactant solutions is required. Typical levels between 0.1% and 2.0% are recommended although the ideal level should be established by practical tests. CHARACTERISTICS

Athon FB 500 Antifoam is a self-dispersing product, with the ability to spontaneously form a fine dispersion when added to water.

APPLICATIONS

Athon FB 500 Antifoam is recommended for all organic systems that require a highly compatible antifoaming agent. Thus, it is ideal for applications where silicones would normally cause problems, such as water miscible adhesives and cooling lubricants.
It is particularly recommended for systems with a high surfactant content or involving high shear forces, such as the incorporation of pigments into dispersions. In these systems, purely organic defoamers rapidly become ineffective.
Athon FB 500 Antifoam also serves as an antifoam agent for suspensions rich in fine and strongly foaming particles and in the production of redispersible powders.

APPLICATIONS

Agrochemical industry, biotechnology, technical processes, fermentation, household cleaning products.
HOW TO USE:
Biological processes: Athon FB 108 Antifoam is added directly to the slurry in the feed tank at the end of the degassing process to suppress the foam and also to deaerate the slurry in the intermediate tank. Amounts generally used from 0.02 to 0.10%.
Formulation of powder detergents: Athon FB 108 Antifoam is added from 5 to 10% to a premixed powder. This premix is then added 2 to 5% to the powdered detergent at the end of the manufacturing process (final recommended product ratio: 0.2 to 0.5%)
Formulation of liquid detergents: Athon FB 108 Antifoam is added at the rate of 0.2 to 0.6% in formulations using thickeners.

The product is concentrated and must be dispersed in the foaming medium for effective action. Prepare 10% to 25% pre-dilutions in a diluent compatible with the medium and use immediately. Final concentrations of 50 to 100 ppm are generally used with good results.
